Thameslink Programme - Earned Value
| Client: | Network Rail |
| Geographic Location: | London |
| Programme Value: | £575 Million |
| Programme Objective: | To implement Earned Value and provide management with credible project delivery metrics. |
Details Of Project
A small Project Leaders team worked collaboratively with client teams and implemented Earned Value to measure the delivery performance of 8 programmes, worth £575 Million, which form part of the Thameslink Programme.
We helped the client raise the bar for routine project accountability reporting. By using the acknowledged World Class technique of Earned Value, measuring project delivery performance shifted the emphasis from mere cost management to include measurement of physical delivery.
The simple yet elegant solution used the client's established Enterprise planning system (Primavera) without the need for any other bespoke or COTS software package.
A consistent approach was implemented for use with a diverse work portfolio and EV metrics are now routinely reported for all projects.
Health of projects and the entire Portfolio can be quickly determined by checking the Schedule Performance Index (SPI) and Cost Performance Index (CPI).
