Management Of Organisational Change
| Client: | Tube Lines Limited |
| Geographic Location: | Jubilee Line |
| Programme Value: | Cost Saving Of £1.5m per year |
| Programme Objective: | To take the track maintenance of the Jubilee Line in house from an LU PFI contractor. |
Details Of Project
As a result of a number of track related incidents, Project Leaders agreed a remit with the Tube Lines Operations Director to determine whether there would be advantages in taking the maintenance of the Jubilee Line Track Assets in house. An analysis was delivered to the Operations Director, giving the Opportunities and Threats of the proposal.

The decision was then made to change the organisation and maintain the assets in house. Project Leaders were then asked to plan and manage the change process, and our consultants were brought on board as a part of the team to be responsible for the technically complex assets. The people issues were managed by Project Leaders.
Within 3 months the asset management responsibility had changed, and the in-house team were being directly managed by the client.
Within 12 months, the following successes had been achieved:
- A significant reduction in lost time injuries
- A reduction in costs of £1.5m per annum
- Better reliability and availability of the asset
- A consolidated reputation with London Underground
- Improved working conditions and practices, leading to better industrial relations.
Project Leaders received an LU recognition award for this programme
