Details Of Project

Working on operational infrastructure whilst maintaining high service levels is never easy, especially when the chosen signalling system had never been delivered in an existing operational environment.
Project Leaders are responsible for providing a significant part of an interface management team that provides a bridge between the Programme and the operational infrastructure. There are heavy penalties both for the non delivery of the system and for any reduction in operational capability.
Project Leaders manage this process.
London Underground’s Director of Engineering stated:
“….the delivery of the Programme whilst maintaining an adequate service was similar to undergoing open heart surgery whilst running a marathon….”
Project Leaders teams are actively involved in negotiations between the operator and the Programme to maximise efficiencies and resolve conflicts that enable the Programme to proceed without compromising operational requirements.
The solutions involve changing maintenance techniques and suggesting innovative solutions to particular problems of programme delivery that reduce negative impacts of the change
