Crossrail Recovery Programme

In 2020, Crossrail enlisted the expertise of Project Leaders to spearhead the recovery program, paving the way for the initiation of Trial Running and Trial Operations. Our role was pivotal in orchestrating construction blockades to finalise essential routeway, stations, shaft, and portal works. Moreover, we provided invaluable strategic and tactical planning support to the senior leadership team at Crossrail, ultimately contributing to the successful opening of the Elizabeth Line.

Challenges Faced

One of the primary challenges encountered was the need to manage requirements of multiple stakeholders to ensure priority construction works were completed whist integrating Trial Running and Trail Operations activities to enable Elizabeth Line entry into passenger service.

The Solution

Project Leaders assumed a proactive approach, meticulously developing the Crossrail project access plan for both CCOS and Network Rail interface areas. We provided comprehensive planning support to all project stakeholders including delivery teams for routeway, stations, shafts and portals, ensuring seamless integration of the overall plan with Trial Running, Trial Operations, RFLI maintenance and third-party works. Our team also managed detailed planning and progress reporting for key delivery access including construction blockades and signalling upgrades.

Project Leaders continue to support delivery on the Elizabeth Line post Crossrail, leading on all access planning activities for RFLI Project enhancement and renewals works. In addition to supporting RFLI project works, Project Leaders also work closely with high priority third party programmes including implementation of 4G/5G coverage in the tunnelled sections.
